An integrated study on Labor market and fertility

This series of research project examines how individuals of various labor market participation status and work arrangements make decisions about marriage and childbirth. Various aspects of employment and work (e.g. contract type, working hours, flexible working arrangements etc.) can be related with fertility decisions as well as one's plans for the career paths. Also, employoee's fertility decisions and observed low-fertility trend can affect firm's HR-related decisions, as government pushes for more protection and benefits for workers with children (such as mandated paid parental leave). Analyses performed in this research project probe diverse aspects of fertility-labor market relationships using quantitative and qualitative methods. 


This research project aims to presents insights for policy makers and academic researchers who are interested in the case of South Korea's low fertility trend.
