Specialization Plans for Industrial Accident Insurance Facilities
  • SUMMARY
    The purpose of this study is to derive the need to specialize the medical aspect of
    Industrial Accident Insurance Facilities (IAIF) installed by the Workers Accident Medical
    Corporation so that it could promote the welfare of workers injured from industrial accidents
    while gaining competitiveness against the external environment. The study also shows the
    way to specialize industrial accident medical services yet retain the public nature of IAIF

    - Identified the current status of medical resources (manpower, equipment & supplies,
    knowledge), medical services, management and financial assistance through statistical
    data and on-site interviews, and brought attention to the need for medical specialization.
    - Observed the current situation involving medical resources, medical services,
    management and financial assistance and learned some lessons thereof by visiting the
    Veteran’s Hospital - a public medical institution in Korea -, and the medical institutions for
    industrial accident insurance in Germany and Japan.
    - Provided strategies to specialize such elements as industrial accident insurance
    facilities, medical services by market segment, service type, special nursing services and
    insurance medical care benefit programs.
    - Gave policy advice on role clarification, replenishment of medical resources,
    sophisticated management and increased economic assistance.
