In August 2019, there were 163000 individuals newly looking for a job and 299,000 jobs newly open for recruitment at the average offered wage of 2,000,000 KRW and the average desired wage of 20,260,000 KRW. The overall wage satisfaction rate was 98.7%.

    ■ By employment type, the wage satisfaction rate was highest at 10.5.1% in the form of ‘non-fixed term employment contract’, and the lowest (49.9%) in the form of ‘non-fixed employment contract (part-time)’. The low wage satisfaction rate of part-time work is attributed to low wages offered by employers to those in part-time work in August.

    ■ Looking at the distribution of the offered wage by employment type in August, both “non-fixed employment contract” and “fixed term employment contract” showed a decrease year-on-year in the proportion of labor demand in the salary range of 1.5-2.0 million won but still took up the largest proportion. In both employment types, the labor demand in the salary range of 2.0-2.5 million showed a significant year-on-year increase. The labor demand in the salary range above 2.5 million won also increased.

    - Most employers offer lower wages for part-time jobs
