2020 Employment Impact Assessment Results of Government Policies Seminar

The KLI hosted the 2020 Employment Impact Assessment Results Seminar on December 9th. The opening was presented by Bae Kiu Sik, president of the KLI followed by congratulatory remarks by Hwa-jin Park, vice minister from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Jin-Ho Jeong from the Korean Labor Economic Association. Five keynote speeches were presented followed by a discussion session. The first presentation was on ‘The Impact of Workplace Harassment Laws on Employment’ presented by Tae Ho Kim, a visiting research fellow from the KLI. The second session was on ‘The Effect of Expanding Kiosk on Employment in the Catering Industry’ which was presented by Joon Mo Cho, a professor from Sungkyunkwan University. The third session was on ‘Employment Impact Analysis of Regional-led Innovative Growth’ by Yoon-Gyu Yoon, a senior research fellow from the KLI, followed by a presentation on ‘Employment Impact Analysis from Reinforcement of Industrial Complex Connectivity’ by Hae-Chun Lee a visiting professor from Seongkyunkwan University. The final presentation was on ‘Employment Effect of Supporting Local Industry Based Organizations’ presented by Insong Jang, research fellow from the KLI.

 

2020 The 11th Asia Future Forum [Session 5-KLI Session] Working in the Era of Contactless Economy: Distancing and Connecting

The KLI and Hankyoreh co-hosted Session 5 of the 2020 11th Asia Future Form on the topic of ‘Working in the Era of Contactless Economy: Distancing and Connecting’. The seminar was open on December 3rd at the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The seminar was divided into two parts. The first was moderated by Jeong-Hee Lee, a research fellow from the KLI. The first presentation was on ‘COVID-19 and Remote Work’ by Erik Brynjolfsson, director of the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. The second presentation was ‘Working from Home: From Invisibility to Decent Work’ which was presented by Janine Berg, a senior economist from the ILO. In the second part of the seminar, a presentation on the topic of ‘Employment and Labour Policies in a Contactless Era’ was given by Keun-ju Kim, a research fellow at the KLI. Ji Yeun Chang, a senior research fellow from the KLI moderated the session which was followed by a panel discussion and a general discussion.

 

KLI_JILPT Joint Webinar on the Impact of COVID-19 on the Labor Market and Policy Response

The KLI and JILPT co-hosted a joint webinar on the Impact of COVID-19 on the Labour Market and Policy Response. The seminar was moderated by Jeong-Hee Lee, director of the International Cooperation and Information Office at the KLI. Kiu Sik Bae, president of the KLI and Yoshio Higuchi, president of the JILPT each gave an opening speech at the webinar. In the first session, presentations on ‘About JILPT's initiatives: From the outline of the company survey’ by Masayuki Nakai, director of general affairs at the JILPT were presented along with a presentation on ‘The Impact of COVID-19 on the Labor Market’ by Minki Hong, director of the Center for Labor Trend Analysis at the KLI. The third presentation was on ‘New Coronavirus and Employment Measures’ by Keiichiro Hamaguchi, research director general at the JILPT. The final presentation was on ‘Labor Policy Against COVID-19: Focusing on Subsidies for Job Retention Schemes’ by Sang-Bong Oh, director for employment safety net research at the KLI.
